The Maldives, a stunning chain of coral atolls scattered across the Indian Ocean, are renowned for their crystal-clear waters, vibrant marine life, and powdery white beaches. A popular honeymoon destination with over-water villas, however there is also superb diving to be had along with other water activities. We snorkeled with whale sharks in the moonlight and dived in some overhangs and ocean caves. We also flew down to Fuvahmulah (the southern most island) where at 40m (130ft) we saw several elusive Thresher Sharks. We also dived with 8 tiger sharks, the largest of which was just over 6m (20ft) called Big Momma. We ended the dive early because visibility dropped and the tiger sharks were becoming excited. They like ambushing their prey. We also sea-kayaked and spent time fully submerging the prototype backpack packed with expensive camera and drone gear. An act of trust but It came through without a drop of water inside either bag compartment.
