We snorkelled with whale sharks in the moonlight and dived overhangs and ocean caves. We flew down to Fuvahmulah, the southernmost island, where at 40 m (130 ft) we saw several elusive thresher sharks.
We also dived with eight tiger sharks — the largest just over 6 m (20 ft), called Big Momma. We ended that dive early when visibility dropped and the tigers grew excited; they like to ambush their prey.
We sea-kayaked, and at one point fully submerged the prototype backpack — packed with expensive camera and drone gear. An act of trust.
The verdictIt came through without a drop of water inside either bag compartment.

The dive, by the numbers.
The Maldives, moving.
Clips from the water — snorkelling the shallows, and sea-kayaking the atolls.
Fully submerged with camera and drone gear inside. Not a drop got in.
